UNCW Theatre Department to present ‘Fight Girl Battle World’

UNCW’s Theatre Department prepares to share their final production of the fall semester. This story tells a witty version of the Biblical story of Adam and Eve through a sci-fi lens in their upcoming production “Fight Girl Battle World.” Fans of “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” will enjoy this action-packed tale that indeed takes place in a galaxy far, far away.

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina - On Monday Nov. 7, the UNCW Seahawks men's basketball team suffered a loss in the first game of the season at the hands of the nation's top-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels. 

NC Land and Water Fund honors Freeman Park

Conservation efforts are being made in the Pleasure Island area. The NC Land and Water Fund honored Freeman Park with a land grant of $4 million dollars this past month, and the money will go towards preserving wildlife and the upkeep of the Carolina Beach sanctuary.

Seahawks fall in men’s soccer semi-final

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Despite an 84-degree day in November, an unsettled UNCW crowd had boos raining from the stands early Sunday afternoon. The Seahawks took a heartbreaking loss to the Hofstra Pride 2-1 that will send Hofstra to face Elon for the CAA title on Saturday, but the boos were not because the Seahawks were losing.
Cheri Beasley is the main Democratic candidate for the North Carolina Senate election.

After Dobbs, UNCW Seahawks are ready to flock to the polls

When the Supreme Court repealed the long-standing abortion rights established by Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey in Dobbs v. Jackson at the end of June 2022, the discussion around abortion caught the attention of the country. Now, the legality of abortion is up to each state to determine for themselves, and as the midterms approach, students across the political spectrum at UNCW are determined to make their voices heard at the ballot box.

This October, WILMA Magazine announced the 35 finalists selected for the WILMA’s 2022 Women to Watch Awards, which included four current UNCW faculty. Mayra Robles, Program Coordinator of UNCW’s Centro Hispano, was one of those four finalists in the rising star category, which is only open to women under the age of thirty.

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW men’s soccer team earned a total of nine clean sheets throughout regular season play this year. This achievement assisted them in receiving the no. 2 seed, as well as a bye straight into the CAA tournament semi-final game, where they will have home-field advantage.

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The Seahawks blew through their exhibition match opponents on Wednesday night with an 88-47 routing of Emory & Henry to set up one of the most anticipated games in UNCW basketball history. On Monday, UNCW men’s basketball will travel to Chapel Hill to take on the top-ranked team in the country, the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Lights, camera, madness! UNCW’s Midnite Madness kicks off basketball season

On Friday night, Trask Coliseum's student section was filled and plenty of other fans piled in for UNCW’s annual Midnite Madness to kick off the basketball season. The night featured plenty of UNCW’s best talents including the dance team, cheerleaders, pep band and both men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as some students participating in games for the chance to win prizes.
