Tebow Talk

These days, it is somewhat uncommon to see a big-time athlete all over the news for something good. The Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow has had his fair share of the spotlight recently. After the Broncos’ miraculous Sunday night victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tebow was a trending topic worldwide on Twitter. John 3:16 was the second most popular trend on Yahoo! late Monday afternoon, a correlation between Tebow’s favorite Bible verse and the fact that Tebow threw 316 yards against the Steelers. He’s made himself a household name in homes that know nothing about football. All it took was prayer and a positive attitude, and Tim Tebow became one of the most talked about athletes of all time. Gregg Doyle wrote on CBSSports.com, “He isn’t in the same class as an athlete, but as a spectacle Tebow is Tiger Woods leading the Masters on Sunday afternoon. He’s Michael Jordan in the NBA Finals. He’s the Yankees in the World Series.”

Love or hate the Broncos, Tebow’s overtime victories are impressive, and what’s even more impressive is the fact that Tebow doesn’t gloat about these victories; he merely thanks God and goes on with his life. His positive attitude takes sportsmanship to a whole new level within the NFL.

Tebow’s displays of faith on and off the field have begun to inspire younger generations to become more spiritual, making him a great role model for kids, unlike other athletes who are often in the news for less-than-righteous reasons.

No matter your religion or favorite sports team, Tim Tebow’s success is inspiring and a breath of fresh air in today’s world. Tebow is helping bring the good back into American sports and provide someone to look up to; he reminds us that nothing is impossible.
