UNCW’s Theatre Department gears up for their debut production of the spring semester. Sophocles’ Greek tragedy “Electra,” directed by Christopher Marino, will be the first of two performances this spring and will kick off this Friday. The show will run on Feb. 16-19 and 23-26 at the Mainstage Theatre in the UNCW Cultural Arts Building.
UNCW’s Theatre Department prepares to share their final production of the fall semester. This story tells a witty version of the Biblical story of Adam and Eve through a sci-fi lens in their upcoming production “Fight Girl Battle World.” Fans of “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” will enjoy this action-packed tale that indeed takes place in a galaxy far, far away.
UNCW plans to present ‘The Moors,’ a tribute to the Brontë sisters that adds a touch of comedy to an otherwise dreary situation in 1840s England. The show will take place at the Mainstage Theatre in the Cultural Arts Building from March. 31 to April 3 and from April 7 to April 10. The shows will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday to Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
Following two semesters marked by COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines, UNCW’s theatre department has announced the Mainstage performances slated for the upcoming academic year. Four productions are designated for in-person showings in the Cultural Arts Building Mainstage Theatre, though subject to change depending on the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the awards season each year, those who study and teach the art of filmmaking have varying opinions about the nominees and the ceremony itself. Professors, graduate students, and teaching assistants from UNCW’s s film department and theatre department were able to take the time to voice their thoughts on the ceremony.
On Thursday, April 15, the UNCW Theatre Department hosted the opening night of their production, “Talley’s Folly.” Despite a limited in-person audience due to COVID-19 restrictions and a livestream for those who could not attend, the two-person cast has continuously wowed their audiences with their 90-minute rom-com.
“Am I Next? Voices from Wilmington, NC”, set to premiere Nov. 12-15 and 19-22, is a devised piece. Meaning, it’s an original script comprised of real-life stories from the cast that focuses entirely on Black lives.
