North Carolina has become the 40th state to expand Medicaid. The proposed plan from Roy Cooper addresses mental health, specifically in youths ages 10-18, as suicide attempts have doubled, increasing from 6% to 12% since the pandemic.

Exploring both the pandemics of COVID-19 and systemic racism, “Bigger Than Bravery” is a thorough portrait of a perilous year.
UNCW has the ability to consistently improve, and the main place to start should be creating the best possible environment for students by getting to the root of their everyday lives. At it’s heart, this environment relies on finances, a good home environment and healthy living. This should be the area of focus for improving students' well-being.

Lane’s experience in acting and film has taught him valuable lessons about the drive it takes to succeed in the industry. “Number one, with anything in art, you’ve got to really want to do it,” said Lane on his advice for aspiring artists. “It’s not about the accomplishment, but the wanting. That is what will carry you to succeed. And then you’ve got to make your own content while you pursue the paycheck. That is what will distinguish you. If you’re pursuing this for the right reasons, you’ll be making your own content anyway.”
COVID-19 protocols, including face coverings and surveillance testing, will continue in the spring semester according to a university email sent today. Unvaccinated on-campus, face-to-face off-campus, faculty and staff will be required to take a COVID-19 test upon returning to campus. The university will conduct testing from Jan. 4-14 with more details to come via email.

Kim’s travels abroad have helped her create some helpful advice for any college student wanting to travel or study abroad. According to Kim, a student must always carry an open mind, be open to explore new things in life and be willing to broaden their horizons. “One can never be too creative if you are stuck in your bubble surrounded by the same thing day in and day out,” said Kim.
All in all, “Wuhan Wuhan” is a heartfelt and deeply human time capsule that deserves to be seen by many people. The film effectively shows that while the coronavirus affected people on a global scale, the human race is more than capable of overcoming it.

On Sept. 15 and 16, the Board of Governors for the University of North Carolina school systems met to discuss COVID-19 protocols and their effects on budgets. Key points of focus from the meeting were the continuation of lessening COVID-19 restrictions, as well as a potential budget increase that will be discussed and voted on Nov. 17 and 18. Both topics will have immense effects on students of UNC institutions.

With North Carolina’s widespread distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, the chances of a return to normalcy at UNCW seemed fairly optimistic. However, such progress came to a halt when UNCW notified students of a COVID-19 cluster in Sandpiper Residence Hall on August 23, 2021. The following day, it was announced that the university would suspend all in-person events and activities that are not related to coursework. On Monday, UNCW extended current guidelines and restrictions until Oct. 15.

On Monday afternoon, UNCW announced they would extend the current guidelines related to COVID-19 until Oct. 15. Chancellor Jose Sartarelli made this decision ahead of a Sept. 17 deadline to decide on the continuance or change to current guidelines.
