This year UNC Wilmington’s (UNCW) Upperman African American Cultural Center celebrates its 25 anniversary. The Upperman Center is a place of support, education and advocacy for Black students at the university.

BREAKING NEWS: On-campus dorms to become single occupancy due to COVID-19 concerns

The Seahawk has learned that on Sept. 8 UNCW students will receive an email announcing that all on-campus dorms will become single occupancy.
Some of the bottled honey that was sold last year on campus. One pound bottles are available for $9.50 at the POD markets on campus.

EVS and UNCW Beekeepers set to sell honey on campus for the third year

For the third year, the environmental science (EVS) department alongside Beekeepers (the bee club) at UNC Wilmington (UNCW) will be selling the honey they harvested and bottled at the POD markets on campus. One pound bottles will be able for $9.50 starting this week, Aramark is in control of when it officially hits shelves.

Q&A: Talking COVID-19 with UNCW administration

This interview was conducted on Aug. 21, by Seahawk Staff Writer William Becker.  Notably, a piece by Becker was published on Aug. 1, simply titled as “UNC System’s fall plan betrays students and staff amid COVID-19.” This piece was extremely critical of the UNC system and its decision to continue operating in-person classes during the threat of COVID-19.  As of Aug 20, two UNC schools (NC State and UNC Chapel Hill) have gone to completely remote learning. In response to the article, Christinia Schectman, a Public Relations Specialist at the Office of University Relations contacted Becker in hopes of conducting a discussion between William Becker and notable staff members at UNCW.
