Final Four madness in New Orleans

The madness is almost over. Only a few more days before I can throw my bracket out and start pretending it never existed. The Final Four is here. Three of the nation’s premier teams and Louisville square off in New Orleans for a chance to play in the national championship game.

Kentucky, Kansas and Ohio State round out the remaining field, giving us one of the more predictable Final Fours in recent memory. This has been the most predictable part of the tournament since Duke lost in the first round (It’s still funny!). It’s about as predictable as an Anthony Davis unibrow joke in this article–don’t worry, it’s coming.

The first game Saturday night pits top-ranked Kentucky against “underdog” Louisville. This game is intriguing because of the history and rivalry between the two teams. I would go on to explain it, but that’s all anyone knows about the rivalry. That’s what you get when you play in Kentucky.

Davis, the AP Player of the Year and shot-blocking extraordinaire, leads the Wildcats. Davis figures to be the top overall pick in the upcoming NBA draft, unless he stays at Kentucky for another year. I’m sure that will be an incredibly tough decision for Davis, seeing as Kentucky has a long history of player loyalty.

Louisville, this year’s Big East tournament champs, has been a hot team throughout this tournament. Rick Pitino, Louisville’s coach, has done a good job of taking an overlooked team this far. Hopefully, he can pull out a big upset win to advance, but if not, I’m sure The Walking Dead could always use more zombies. He’d fit right in. Anyway, back to basketball. I think Kentucky is just too good, and the Wildcats cruise past Louisville.

Next up is Kansas versus Ohio State. Kansas, who was supposed to be mediocre this year, has flourished under coach Bill Self. After dismantling North Carolina, the Jayhawks look to continue their superb play against the Buckeyes. The intriguing matchup in this game will be the battle between Kansas big man Thomas Robinson and Ohio State big man Jared Sullinger. The winner of this game will go on to play against Kentucky’s big man, Anthony Davis’ unibrow (There it is!). Both teams have fantastic guard play, and look incredibly even-matched on paper.

When picking the winner of this game, there were a few things I had to consider. These things are stuff that everyone should abide by, things that differentiate the good people from the bad people. For instance, one should never listen to Lil Wayne. One should never wear anything that says “Miami Heat” on it, or say “sucks to suck.” Rooting for Ohio State is on that list of never’s. I’ll take Kansas.

Those are my picks; I’ll probably be wrong.–except with the Kentucky pick. I feel pretty good about that.
