Color Me Rad takes over UNCW

As the spring season begins and temperatures rise, Color Me Rad will be holding one of their events here at UNC Wilmington on Sunday, April 3.

Starting at 9 am, the 5K is bringing their famous powdered neon paint bombs and covering the campus in a glow. The race is open to all levels of runners, including those who choose to walk the duration of the event.

The race is sponsored by UNCW Athletics, and will be raising funds to support UNCW student athletes by providing scholarships to those who are deemed deserving. It is promoted through the Seahawk Club whose purpose is to build upon the intercollegiate athletic programs here on campus.

Regardless, the race is open to the public and not just students. For all regular participants, registration will include a free t-shirt, a RAD temporary tattoo, and a protective case for phones to shield devices from any damage.

Prices for the run are increasing as deadlines close, starting ticket sales at $25 and ending at $55. There are six different deadline dates for pricing, however same day registration is an option for those who did not have time to apply online.

Lines will be reduced during the event to avoid waiting and confusion. Color Me Rad has since removed their packet pick-up. Instead, those who registered in advanced will be receiving their packages the week of the race via mail, and the remaining will meet at a designated tent on race morning.

Participants will run through eight different color stations during the course and, to fulfill true school spirit, the run will be featuring the color teal.

Any interested participants can go online to Color Me Rad and sign up for their Wilmington, NC race. If not, show up on race day to register, support our athletics, and most importantly, join the fun and feel the teal.
