Anticipation surrounding the announcement of the ACE Spring Show performance built up for weeks and finally culminated at a black light party held by ACE this past Tuesday in Warwick. Grammy nominated artist B.o.B will take the stage with Playboy Tre and DJ Jason Smith April 1 in Trask Coliseum.

“We are super excited to announce the spring show as B.o.B,” said senior Hillary Rigg, ACE concerts chair. “We’ve been so pumped all week; everyone was super excited when we made the announcement. April 1 is going to be huge for ACE; we can’t wait.”

B.o.B. is known for singles such as 2010’s “Nothin’ on You” (featuring Bruno Mars), “Magic” (featuring Rivers Cuomo), and “Airplanes” (featuring Eminem and Hayley Williams).

“Hailing from Atlanta, Ga., a city known for its outcasts, B.o.B is truly out of the ordinary,” according to the band’s website. At just 19 years old, the rapper – born Bobby Ray Simmons – has become a breath of fresh air in Atlanta’s snap and trap-obsessed scene.”

“This is probably the biggest artist we’ve had,” said ACE member, junior Olivia Simmons. “B.o.B. played at the Grammys. I can’t wait to work at the event.”

ACE gave away two individual tickets to the show and two meet-and-greet passes at the black light party. They will be giving away 28 more meet-and-greet passes at various locations and events before April 1.

Tickets for the show will go on sale for UNCW students Feb. 21 at Sharky’s Box office and Feb. 22 on etix.com. Prices are $25 for the floor and $20 for a seat. Tickets will be sold to the general public beginning Feb. 28, for $28 (floor) and $23 (seat). The day of the show tickets will be sold to students for $25 and the general public for $28.

Past Spring Shows include Jay Sean featuring comedian Eric O’Shea in 2010, Citizen Cope featuring Vanessa Carlton in 2009 and Nick Swardson in 2008.
