Subway coming soon-really this time

Subway is coming to UNCW. Despite the initial delay, students should be able to enjoy five dollar foot-longs and an additional place for quick meals on campus. With all the hype around it opening sometime in October, many students started to wonder what was going on with the grand opening of Subway.

Before any construction could begin, the project had to be approved by the State Construction Office. It took approximately five months for the work to be reviewed and approved. As a result, the Subway opening on campus was delayed.

“We did everything we could to be ready,” said Matt Rogers, Food Service Director for Campus Dining. All Subway staff has been hired, and all equipment is here. According to Rogers, as soon as the renovations are complete Subway will be ready to open for students.

An approximate completion date will be established after a meeting early this week to determine what needs to be done to finish the construction. According to Rogers, the contractor believes that the project should be completed about three to four weeks after construction work begins.

More updates about the status of Subway opening at UNCW are to come. Rogers says that students should be able to notice some progress within about a week.
