Seahawk statue recovered

The Seahawk statue that was stolen from in front of the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Warwick Center that was reported missing on July 5 has been returned.

After UNCW released video footage of the theft on Wednesday, Aug. 20, Cape Fear’s Crime Stoppers received an anonymous tip the next day. With help from the University of Greensboro’s Police Department, the statue was located in Greensboro, N.C. and returned to UNCW’s campus on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Arrest warrants have been issued, charging Joseph Berry of Hillsborough, Robert Touhey of Ocracoke and Nicholas Siano of Wilmington with felony larcenies and injury to real property misdemeanors.
