WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW softball (13-18) defeated the NC A&T Aggies (9-24) 15-7 in five innings Wednesday evening at Boseman Field.

The season-high 15 runs and 14 hits led UNCW to their fifth straight win as the Seahawks improve their record to 13-18 and 7-5 in the conference.

Five was the lucky number apparently, as the Seahawks scored five runs in the opening two innings, five runs in the following two innings, the Aggies registering five themselves in the fifth, and the Seahawks also adding five more in the fifth, ending the game in a mercy rule.

Not only did five Seahawks register two hits apiece, including junior pitcher/infielder Janel Gamache, junior catcher Jada Santiago, junior Gabriella Hessenthaler, sophomore catcher Jentri Meadows and senior Hunter Bizzell but every Seahawk in the batting lineup registered at least one hit.

The 15 runs scored were the most in a game for the Seahawks since 2008.

UNCW will look to continue their hot streak with a series in their final road games of the regular season. They will take on the James Madison Dukes in a three-game series with a doubleheader Saturday, April 24, and a single game on Sunday, April 25.
