On April 3, gunfire broke out at a Wilmington house party just after midnight Saturday morning with 3 dead and 4 injured in the aftermath. The shooting took place around Kidder and 7th street, just a few blocks away from Greenfield Park.

Wilmington Police Department (WPD) have identified the deceased as Zieyah Wade, 22; Shamir Jones, 21; and a 16-year-old victim who was not named due to their age.

Additionally, Zykeria Crawford, 19; Zymiryon Atkins, 18; Valery Orelus, 18; and Keyshawn James, 21 were injured in the violence, but are said to be in stable condition and recovering.

This shooting has been described by WPD as a gunfight, with at least one of the suspected shooters believed to have fled the scene according to reporting by CNN.

Saturday’s shooting will go down as one of the largest in the history of the city of Wilmington. District attorney Ben David expressed shock and grief over the event.

“In my more than two decades as a prosecutor this is one of the worst crimes we have ever had in the Port City,” said David. “The community’s unimaginable grief must be met with an equal commitment to get justice for all of the victims in this case.”
