Courtney Rivenbark on making a positive impact on the fashion world

Skye Dlugy-Hegwer, Staff Writer November 20, 2022
With the rise of fast fashion in recent decades and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, remaining small businesses face challenges of existing in an oversaturated, fast-paced consumer landscape. In spite of the challenges, people like Courtney Rivenbark, owner and creator of Cococlem, persist with their small businesses, focusing on sustainable, ethical products that make a positive impact in the fashion world. As a size-inclusive, made-to-order clothing brand with all fabric prints designed by Rivenbark, her business is truly unique to her.

UNCW senior Landon McClure balances modeling and student life

Olivia Vizethann, Staff Writer March 8, 2022
In the midst of the pandemic, when the world shut down, McClure began the pursuit of his modeling career. He found inspiration in his mother who had herself worked in the modeling industry. Prompted by her encouragement, McClure reached out to “Directions USA,” the largest agency across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

REVIEW: Lady Gaga lends dramatic quality to the biographical drama ‘House of Gucci’

Boyce Rucker, Intern November 28, 2021
The casting for the movie is exceptional, but Gaga gives a larger-than-life performance. Gaga’s pop star persona is barely noticeable here as she immerses herself into the role of Patrizia. Although Patrizia is still alive, Gaga refused to meet with her as she did not want to fuel Patrizia’s self-glorification for her former husband’s murder. Choosing to focus on videos and interview clips instead, Gaga replicates Patrizia’s mannerisms, Italian accent and fashion choices.
