UNCW parking goes virtual this year, but students say there are still problems to fix

This semester parking services’ enforcement and technology use evolved to meet the demands of the university’s growing pains, but student and staff opinions on the shift oscillate between criticism and acceptance. With this year’s expansion of the university and a record-breaking enrollment, parking services reinvented how parking operates on campus.

How clubs are adapting to the return to virtual

With North Carolina’s widespread distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, the chances of a return to normalcy at UNCW seemed fairly optimistic. However, such progress came to a halt when UNCW notified students of a COVID-19 cluster in Sandpiper Residence Hall on August 23, 2021. The following day, it was announced that the university would suspend all in-person events and activities that are not related to coursework. On Monday, UNCW extended current guidelines and restrictions until Oct. 15.

UNCW extends current COVID-19 restrictions another month

On Monday afternoon, UNCW announced they would extend the current guidelines related to COVID-19 until Oct. 15. Chancellor Jose Sartarelli made this decision ahead of a Sept. 17 deadline to decide on the continuance or change to current guidelines.
