Kate Voegele, a singer-songwriter that came to fame through Myspace spotlight videos and a recurring role as Mia Catalano on the popular CW show, “One Tree Hill,” will be returning to Wilmington with her recent PARAKATE tour. November 16, downtown Wilmington’s The Soapbox Laundro-Lounge will host Voegele with alternative rock band, Parachute.

Voegele is a twenty-four-year-old artist that grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. Her dad taught her how to play the guitar at a young age and she performed many shows in her hometown and the Midwest, but her career didn’t really start until Tom Anderson, the creator of Myspace, signed her as the first artist of the Myspace recording label.

“I want my music to be your favorite pair of blue jeans. I want it to be comfy. Perhaps that’s an artsy way of saying I want my record to be the one that you put on regardless of where you are and how you’re feeling because you know you’re going to take something away from it no matter what’s going on in your life,” said Voegele.

“My music is the chicken soup kind. Or at least that’s what I hope it is. I want people to get a good feeling in their soul from these songs,” said Voegele. That is exactly what she brings to songs such as “Sandcastles” and “Say You’re Mine,” a genuine raw honesty that is straight from the soul.

Accompanying Voegele will be the American band Parachute, an alternative rock group from Charlottesville, Va. Parachute became very popular after the release of the single, She is Love, in 2009 which debuted at #98 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Parachute brings emotionally injected lyrics are true to the heart, and popular songs on their album such as “Forever and Always” and “Kiss Me Slowly” speak about relationships and other people’s perspectives.

“The tunefulness of the new songs belies themes of betrayal, as it examines relationships that are fraying at the edge and breaking apart, with a combination of sorrow and regret, using the good memories to tentatively soldier on,” claims lead singer Will Anderson.

Kate Voegele will be promoting her latest album, “Gravity Happens,” which came out in May and Parachute will perform songs from their album “The Way It Was.” Doors open at 8mp.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.
