WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW (3-4) lost their third straight to the Drexel Dragons (3-1) 76-63 Saturday afternoon in Trask Coliseum.

The Seahawks were losing 34-26 at the half, but were able to make it close, tying it up 34-34 with an explosive 8-0 run to start the third quarter. However, Drexel came right back with an 11-4 run, all 11 points by senior guard Hannah Nihill, to pull back ahead. Unfortunately, the Lady Hawks were never able to close the gap.

Nihill also chipped in five rebounds and five assists. Junior guards Maura Hendrixson and Keishana Washington both added 12 points, and senior guard Kayla Bacon played a well-rounded game with 11 points and eight rebounds. Senior forward Mariah Leonard also chipped in nine points and 10 rebounds.

Although UNCW lost the game, they set a season high for both free throws made and attempted (20 of 32), and snagged 10 offensive rebounds, the seventh game in a row the Lady Hawks had double figures in offensive rebounds.

Senior forward Carol Anne-Obusek had an impressive game with 18 points and eight rebounds. She’s reached double figures in all six of her games this season. Junior guard Za’Nautica Downs scored 17 off the bench, and junior guard Camille Downs chipped in with an impressive showing of 12 points, seven rebounds, and six steals. Freshman guard Evan Miller also showed up with nine points and six rebounds.
