Humans of the Dub: Learning from life

A year from today, how different was your life?

I think I was definitely less mature a year ago than I am now. I feel like as time goes on, I get more and more mature. I get to know more about a lot of certain things. I certainly have gotten better when it comes to my camera work. I’ve become a better RA. I feel like overall, I became a better person.

Was there a specific event last year that was just incredibly immature that makes you question today why you did that?

I don’t think there was a specific event. As time goes on, I reflect on what I’ve done over the past couple of months and how I handle things now. I just think in general I’ve become more mature. There has never been a specific event where I was like, “Okay, this is a turning point in my life.”

Now that a year has passed and you’ve talked about being better with your camera work and being a better RA, how did you develop all those things in a year?

I think it’s important to have an open mind when it comes to dealing with other people. You run into a lot of different people with different experiences in college, so it’s important to really listen to their stories and hear their truths. Definitely, as an RA, I’ve run into a lot of different people and problems, so I’ve just gained a lot of experience through that. Also, being able to work in the media field has given me plenty of opportunities to grow. For example, I did the study abroad trip last semester in Paris. Being in that environment and meeting a whole bunch of people doing the things I love. I gained a lot of experience doing that.
