Wilmington residents protest for trans rights

Dozens of people gathered on the steps of Thalian Hall on International Transgender Day of Visibility to protest for trans rights. Every year, March 31 is dedicated to recognizing trans visibility and rights. Trans Day of Visibility was initially created by transgender activist Rachel Crandall in 2009 to foster joy and celebrate transgender people.

Lane’s experience in acting and film has taught him valuable lessons about the drive it takes to succeed in the industry. “Number one, with anything in art, you’ve got to really want to do it,” said Lane on his advice for aspiring artists. “It’s not about the accomplishment, but the wanting. That is what will carry you to succeed. And then you’ve got to make your own content while you pursue the paycheck. That is what will distinguish you. If you’re pursuing this for the right reasons, you’ll be making your own content anyway.”

Thalian Hall to reopen as a movie theater

Along with traditional multiplexes, Thalian Hall closed their theater in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. After the implication of Phase 3 in North Carolina, Thalian Hall has made the decision to relaunch Cinematique, a screening of artistic and international films, complete with necessary safety precautions.
