Derek Chauvin, the officer who killed Floyd, was found guilty of murder Tuesday and hauled off to prison, possibly for decades. The Black community and its allies joyously poured into America’s streets in celebration, relieved that they can now begin to heal from the trauma of both the killing and trial. Many consider the case a turning point in U.S. policing as well as the country overall, but much more and harder work remains ahead.

'Antebellum' has good intentions, boldly proclaiming the fact that racism still exists in today’s America, but the film ultimately suffers from languid pacing, clunky writing, and poor direction.

UNC Wilmington kicked off their annual Leadership Lecture series this year with an appearance from Ibram X. Kendi, renowned author of the best-seller ‘How to Be an Antiracist” and historian. As per COVID-19 restrictions, the lecture took place via ZOOM on Sept. 23.

The Library has worked to present itself as a resource for minorities and students looking to gain a richer understanding of the society they live in. This includes expanding the Library’s collection to include more works by authors of color and hosting a myriad of programs, exhibits, and displays aimed at breaking prejudices through education.
