Broken into construction trailer: stolen property, two arrests

Casey McAnarney, Editor in Chief

A construction trailer near the fenced area at The Hub dining hall was broken into earlier this semester, according to the UNC Wilmington Police Department’s crime log, and some property was taken.

The crime log states that a construction trailer was broken into on Feb. 10 and property was taken. The trailer was inside the fenced area by The Hub dining facility currently being built in between residence halls Galloway and Graham-Hewlett. The property included a couple of shirts and a hat, according to Police Chief Chris Bertram.

Bertram also said that the clothing items were recovered and that two students were arrested.

This will not affect the construction, according to Bertram. While UNCW police do not have a problem on campus with theft from construction trailers, these trailers do often get broken into by thieves seeking cash or other valuables inside. Generally, that is not the case.
