SGA passes 2 resolutions thanking Chief Donaldson, faculty and staff
During their last meeting of the school year, the Student Government Association (SGA) passed two resolutions—the first thanking University Police Chief David Donaldson and the second highlighting appreciation to faculty and staff.
Resolution 09.04.06.21 or ‘A Resolution to Thank Chief David Donaldson For His Service to the UNCW Campus Community’ highlights the SGA’s appreciation for Donaldson’s work at UNC Wilmington (UNCW) in light of his upcoming retirement.
“Emphasizing, the dedication, service, and loyalty that Chief Donaldson has shown to UNCW throughout his years as Chief of UNCW Police… Recognizing his significant contributions to the greater Wilmington community through hours of self-service.
Resolved, that the Student Government Association of the University of North Carolina Wilmington would like to formally thank Chief David Donaldson for his impactful leadership and the legacy he leaves behind,” as written in the resolution.

There was no debate or questions prior to the resolution’s approval. The resolution passed with 26 yays, zero nays and three abstentions.
Resolution 10.04.06.21 or ‘A Statement of Appreciation to the Administration, Faculty, and Staff of UNCW for Their Planning and Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic’ thanks UNCW faculty and staff for their efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Whereas, the faculty, staff and administration has stepped up in unimaginable capacities to maintain university functionality, and, Whereas, the Student Government Association would like to show sincere appreciation and gratitude to those who have worked tirelessly to adapt operations in response to COVID-19.
“Recognizing, that while future circumstances continue to be variable, the divisions’ and individual’s resilience and dedication has led to a successful academic year,” as written in the resolution.
