LOS ANGELES, California – Last night, dreams came true for the former beloved Seahawk big man Devontae Cacok. For the first time in his young NBA career, he took the court as a member of the starting lineup in a nationally televised game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Making his mark, Cacok wasted no time and threw down a thunderous alley-oop in the first minute, prompting “oh’s and ah’s” from the New Orleans crowd. Cacok would finish the game with 4 points in 13 minutes in a Laker loss.

While at UNCW, Cacok led the nation with 22 double-doubles during his senior season. Despite this, Cacok went undrafted but signed a two-way contract with the Lakers in 2020, meaning he splits time between LA and their G League affiliate South Bay Lakers.

After injuries to LA’s stars, the second-year big man’s minutes will likely increase for the foreseeable future. With Lebron James and fellow big man Anthony Davis out, it is safe to say that Cacok will play a role in keeping the defending champion Lakers afloat until they return.
