I am a second semester sophomore. Is it too late to change my major?

It’s never too late to change your major. As soon as you realize that you are not enjoying a majority of the classes that you are required to take within your major, change it. It is more important to be happy with your major than to graduate on time. It is not the end of the world if you do not graduate exactly when you planned to and it is still possible for you to graduate on time with the help of summer classes. This happens all of the time. Most students change their major at least once and sometimes twice. When you change your major to something you enjoy you will find yourself being more motivated in school. You might even enjoy school, crazy idea right?  I highly recommend changing your major if you find yourself feeling miserable in your classes. It will make a huge difference in your perspective on school and your future. No matter what year of school you are in, make decisions that will make you the happiest in the long run.

I’m going on a spring break trip with some friends and I feel like I am being pressured to drink the whole week. How do I tell them I don’t want to do that?

This is a very common issue to experience during spring break. If you have made the decision to not drink over spring break, start by letting your friends know in advance about your decision to stay sober. This will reduce the probability of them trying to buy you drinks and keep you from having to turn them away. If this does not help the problem, just turn down the drink politely, but firmly. Let them know that they are not going to succeed in convincing you. If you want to make it less obvious that you are not drinking you can order a coke or orange juice at the bar and people will assume that you are drinking a mixed drink. You can request that the bartender serve the non-alcoholic drink in the same cups used for mixed drinks. You can also offer to be their designated driver. Anyone loves a free ride home instead of having to pay for an Uber. Stay strong in your decision and have fun without the alcohol.

I’m graduating in May and I’m trying to decide if want to move home or get my own place. Thoughts?

Moving to either location has its pros and cons. If you decide to move home, you will save a lot of money. You will not have to pay rent or pay for your groceries, so most of the money that you make can be saved. The obvious downside to this is that you will have less privacy than you would have away from home. Going back to living with your parents after living on your own can be difficult because you have less control over what you do every day. Getting your own place straight out of college can be good because it allows you to feel like an adult and you get to keep your sense of privacy and independence. However, some individuals find it hard to afford their own apartment after graduation because they have to put themselves on a budget and often have to pay back student loans. You have to make a decision based on how much you value your personal space and privacy and how much money you want to spend or save.
