“Kingdom Hearts III” to feature a “Monsters Inc.” world

A trailer released at Disney’s official fan club expo – D23 – showed off the latest for the highly anticipated Square Enix “Kingdom Hearts III.” The trailer featured characters from Pixar’s “Monsters Inc.” and will include the iconic Mike Wazowski and Sully. Also seen in the trailer is a monster version of Goofy, Donald Duck, and the game’s main character Sora.

Square Enix has steadily been releasing teasers for content included in “Kingdom Hearts III.” Also seen in the trailer were iconic characters from “Toy Story,” a previously announced world to be included in the game.

“Kingdom Hearts III” is slated to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime this year.

Activision Blizzard proves microtransactions are making big money

Activision Blizzard, the company known for games such as “Call of Duty” and “World of Warcraft” proves that microtransactions are a profitable business. Gamespot.com reports that the company made $4 billion off microtransactions in 2017 alone. Half of that came from mobile games such as Candy Crush, developed by King.

After the wildly popular business model of Overwatch, which allows players to buy loot boxes with real money to buy cosmetic items, many other games have followed suit. Games such as “Middle-Earth: Shadow of War” and “Forza Motorsport 7” – which are not published by Activision Blizzard – were panned for their incorporation of loot boxes last year, yet Activision Blizzard proves that it is a profitable business.

“Splatoon 2 Starter Edition” announced

“Splatoon 2” is going to have a second release with the upcoming starter edition according to Nintendo. “Splatoon 2 Starter Edition,” which is releasing March 16, will come with some extra goodies this time around. The bundle will include a “Splatoon 2 strategy… and two sheets of Splatoon stickers.” according to Nintendo. In addition, it will go for the same price as when it originally released at $60.

There is no word yet if the base game will be lowered in price or if the starter edition will replace it. In addition.

“System Shock” remake put on hiatus

When the “System Shock” reboot by Night Dive Studios hit Kickstarter in 2016, it raised over $1.3, surpassing its goal of $900,000. Now, in a Kickstarter message, Night Dive CEO Stephen Kick says he “put the team on a hiatus while we reassess our path.”

Kick assures backers that the game is not canceled and will be completed, but the team is “taking a break.” The original goal for was to release the game in December 2017, which has since passed. The new release date is undetermined.

PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya confirms “Bayonetta 3”

Hideki Kamiya, known for director games such as “Ōkami” and “Bayonetta” announced on Twitter that “Bayonetta 3’s” production has begun. In his tweet, he says “It took a while for production of “Bayonetta 3” to be okayed, but now that it has kicked off, I hope it will turn into a wonderful encounter for all of you.”

“Bayonetta 2,” which originally released in 2014 for the Wii U, released on the Nintendo Switch on February 16, 2018 as well. Included on the disk is the original game as well.
