Forget the iPhone 7, wait another year

The first iPhone was released to the public on June 27, 2007. Since then it has grown into one of the most popular smartphone devices on the planet with about 18.65 million iPhones being sold worldwide in the second quarter of 2011 and in the 2011 fiscal year about 72 million iPhones had been sold, according to Statista.

The iPhone 7 came out in September and it created the same kind of excitement that we have seen every year with the arrival of a new iPhone. But, is all the hype surrounding the iPhone 7 premature?

According to Apple, the new iPhone 7 offers a variety of colors and a slew of interesting and improved features that differentiate it from those before it. However, I do not suggest running to your carrier searching for an upgrade, simply because I think Apple has more up their sleeve come next year.

Next year will be the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone and I would be floored if Apple did not use this as an opportunity to increase sales of the iPhone. With a product as popular and well known as the iPhone, a 10-year anniversary generation phone is gold, especially when people are already going nuts for the editions before it.

Apple either already has some plans set aside for their up and coming ten year iPhone anniversary or they are going to, hopefully, spend a large chunk of this year designing and creating a kick-butt smart phone that will blow all the rest out of the water.

I am not sure how they really can up their game, because let’s face it, the iPhone is pretty advanced to begin with and every year they change or add something to make it have a serious wow factor. All I can say is, I would be seriously shocked if Apple didn’t bring out all the stops for the 10-year anniversary.

Rumors started flying about redesign of the iPhone for its 10-year anniversary, but nothing has really been confirmed quite yet. It is too soon, especially since the seven just hit stores last month. One thing is for certain though: Apple needs to have something big planned for the next iPhone. People have already started building their expectations and hopefully Apple will not disappoint.
