Following these guidelines will prevent security deposit deductions:

Most tenants are responsible for replacing any broken glass and burnt out light bulbs.

Take all belongings upon vacating the apartment including furniture, personal items, trash and all other forms of rubbish.

In the kitchen, clean the stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and the interior and exterior of the cabinets.

Clean all of the surfaces in the bathroom, including the toilet, mirror, medicine cabinet, sink and shower/bathtub.

Remove all nails and screws from the balcony or patio and sweep.

In the wall, trim and doors, wipe off any handprints or marks; remove nails and screws; patch holes and sand.

Clean the interior of all the windows and clean lighting fixtures.

Thoroughly vacuum the carpets and sweep all of the floors.
