Women’s basketball hits the road

Road trip, everyone.

UNC-Wilmington’s women’s basketball team, coming off last season’s 22-6 record, tackles a strong road schedule for the 2003-04 season.

The Seahawks, who finished 14-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association, open the season by hosting Loyola Marymount on Nov. 23, then hit the road for seven of its remaining nine non-conference games.

UNCW travels to Ohio State, which reached the second round in last year’s NCAA Tournament, state rivals East Carolina and Charlotte (the 49ers also reached last year’s tournament) and finishes its non-conference slate at Dartmouth’s Big Sky Classic.

Highlights of the home schedule include national and CAA power Old Dominion on Feb. 15 and Delaware, which reached the WNIT.The squad wraps up its season with three straight CAA home games against VCU, Drexel and Hoftstra.

The Seahawks travel to Norfolk for the conference tournament which kicks off Thurs., Mar. 11 and concludes on Mar. 13.
