Clarkson, Aiken…Hung Reject drops album

“Amazing” said Entertainment Weekly. “Album of the Year” claims People Magazine. TRL and BET chart topper. “He’ll be bigger than Outkast, hotter than Justin, and more famous than Michael Jackson,” said a reviewer. This is talk of the American Idol reject, William Hung. Wait, oops. That was about somebody else. This is William Hung, a UC Berkeley student majoring in Civil Engineering and the latest edition to the American Idol craze. It all started on Jan. 27 when millions of viewers tuned into Fox’s 3rd installment of American Idol. Fans anxiously waited to see a performance by the next Kelly Clarkson or Clay Aiken, instead they got William Hung. Hung, with all the confidence in the world, butchered Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs.” The reactions of Simon, Paula and Randy were priceless. Now, the “Ricky Martin of Hong Kong” has released an album. His first (and probably last) album is titled Inspiration. William sings covers on hits such as, “Y.M.C.A,” “Circle of Life,” “I Believe I Can Fly” and “Can You Feel The Love Tonight.” Also, for some reason, Hung sings some Latino pop hits including, “Bailamos,” “Shake Your Bon-Bon” and, of course, “She Bangs.” However, it needs to be noted that Hung should be given some props for his inspirational tracks, where he speaks on passion, perseverance and being yourself. Unfortunately, this didn’t help him set any records when his album was released on April 6, debuting at number 34 on The Billboard top 200. If one just can’t get enough of Hung check out his official fan site at www.williamhung.net. Here, fans can get William Hung screen savers, write him love letters and ‘shop Hung’ and buy William Hung merchandise. There are also videos of his performances on American Idol, Jay Leno and his music videos. Unfortunately, Hung’s 15 minutes of fame has run about 15 minutes too long.
