OOPS! SHE DID IT AGAIN

And the scariest part is she did it well. Hotel heiress Paris Hilton can now add “musical artist” to her résumé since she has finally released her debut album. Actually, make that “hit musical artist.” Paris’ hit single, “Stars Are Blind,” which is a mix of reggae and pop fluff, climbed to the top of the Billboard dance music charts.

The album, released Aug. 15, debuted number six on the music sales charts, selling 77,000 units. Although not a smash hit, the sales are still quite impressive for the most controversial person in Hollywood. “The Simple Life” star proves that anyone with hair extensions, a miniskirt, six-inch-heels and breasts can be a princess of pop music: Britney, Ashlee, Jessica, PCD and now Paris Hilton. The album, titled none other than “Paris,” was released by Warner Brothers Music and produced by the Captain America of the music biz, Scott Storch. Clearly the brains behind the beauty, Storch was able to team Miss Hilton up with hit artists Fat Joe and Jadakiss in “Fightin’ Over Me” and helped her vocalize her (obvious) resentment towards former best friend Nicole Richie in “Jealousy.” Given a surprising B rating by Entertainment Weekly, “Paris” is most reminiscent of cotton candy. It’s colorful and sweet but there really isn’t that much there besides sugar. Hilton sounds like a even breathier Gwen Stefani, singing about sex (“Screwed”), sex (“Turn You On”) and (surprise!) sex (“Do You Think I’m Sexy”). A sample lyric, taken from “Turn You On,” goes something like this: “Sorry I turn you on – Take a cold shower when you get home – Boys and girls are looking at me – I can’t blame them ’cause I’m sexy.”

The bottom line: I love it! Maybe not as much as the 25-year-old watch/jewelry/hand bag/perfume designer, actress (“House of Wax” and this week’s DVD release “Bottoms Up”), reality TV personality, author, video game star and now singer, who was quoted having said, “I, like, cry when I listen to [the album], it’s so good.” But, I still enjoy it. My new guilty pleasure is the CD’s first track, “Turn It Up.” At the end of her album cover, Hilton says a special thanks to her family, including her pets (no joke): Baby Luv, Bambi, Prada, Dolce, Cinderella, George and of course, Tinkerbell. Whether or not you like what she stands for, her album is worth a listen because, well, it’s Paris!

Two writer’s notes: One, it took all my strength not to write “That’s Hot” anywhere in this article. Two, it is unconfirmed if Paris was listening to her album when she was pulled over for allegedly driving drunk in Hollywood last week.
