On gun control

The senseless acts that occurred on the Virginia Tech campus brought gun control back to the political forefront. So, should the United States ban control? Should we make regulations more stringent?

No. How do you regulate a black market from which many guns used in illegal activities are bought?

Controlling guns only makes them more desirable weapons. The fewer people who have guns, the more psychos feel empowered, knowing no one can fire back until the police arrive.

How do you separate gamesmen from thugs and psychopaths at the hunting counters?

It’s our right to bear arms. Maybe some people don’t want guns; but who are we to keep others from expressing their constitutional rights in legal ways? We’re not ridding alcohol from the grocery store and gas station shelves because of drunk driving. How can you take away anything else that is legal?

Ted Nugent alluded to on CNN that gun-free zones could become targets for those who already plan illegal actions. If someone wants less resistance to his or her violent force, the best place to be is where no one can fire back at you.

Gun control is already stringent. You can’t standardize tests to find out who should own a gun. How can the government take a constitutional right away?
