Sit-down’s with Sweeney

A Q&A article with a UNCW student-athleteName: Stephanie RoseSport: Women’s SoccerClass Standing: FreshmanIntended field of study: NursingHometown: Jacksonville, NC

Q: What was the most exciting activity/event you did this past summer?A: My club team, Coastal Crew 90, went to Texas for Regionals for a second year. We played this really good team, ESC Black, and we tied them, which was a big deal. Even though we lost later on, it was still a lot of fun and a great experience.

Q: What was your favorite cartoon growing up?A: Rocket Power (on Nickelodeon)

Q: If you had a million dollars what would be your first purchase?A: I’d buy a ticket to go to Ireland. I’ve always wanted to go there.

Q: What’s your dream car?A: A black Porsche with black leather interior. It would also have shiny 20 inch rims with a red trim

Q: What’s one of your favorite songs?A: “Fat lip” by Sum 41

Q: What’s the first word that comes to mind when you think of being mentioned in Sports Illustrated?A: Famous. It’s funny because my Mom sent me an e-mail with a link to the article, and I kind of blew it off at first not realizing what it was. But it was cool, and everyone from my hometown was really nice about it too.

Q: Where do you hope to see yourself 5-10 years from now?A: I hope to one day play on the U.S. Olympic soccer team. But if not then I hope to settle down with a family and a good job.

Q: What’s your all-time favorite food?A: Zebra Cakes

Q: Who do you look to as a role model for inspiration?A: Mia Hamm was a role model for me on the soccer field growing up. But she hasn’t been playing for awhile now. I’d have to say off the field I looked at my sports medicine teacher in high school, Mr. Mueller, as a role model. He was a great father, respectful, polite, and just an overall really good person.
