Fellow Seahawks may be surprised to discover that plans are underway to create another technology store, separate from Binaries. The store is expected to move into the campus bookstore’s second floor and open at the start of the summer term.

Stephanie Garay, the bookstore manager, has few details to release at this time.  

“We do know that the project will start around spring break, and will be open at the start of the summer term,” Garay said. “The funding for the project is coming from Barnes & Noble College.” 

It is hard to determine what sort of services the new technology store will offer. Binaries already has a host of products-Dell computers as low as $384, Apple computers starting at $950-and is the go-to for technical support for both, beyond TAC.

It is suspected the new store will have competitive prices as well as its own unique variety of products. There have been speculations that the new store will be more focused on Apple products whereas Binaries will be primarily for Windows products; however, Binaries already offers services for Macs and is also planned to be certified to work on Apple products, meaning that if you have a software or hardware issue, Binaries will have you covered.

There is interest in exactly how this new store will fit into the bookstore’s pre-existing layout. As it stands, the upstairs is already cramped, fitting the school’s entire required reading into half a room.

Fortunately, if Binaries is any judge, the as-yet-unnamed technology store will manage as a compact operation.
