Mclovin’ Campaign attempts to attract leaving customers
McDonald’s revealed in a Super Bowl ad that it would accept payments of love rather than money from Feb. 2 to Feb. 14. The ‘McLovin’ campaign stemmed from McDonald’s inability to grow sales in recent years due to the questionability of what actually is in the food they sell.
The introduction of this new campaign sparked many peoples’ attention, but not enough. The fact that McDonald’s sales have been so stagnant in recent years speaks for itself. The American people are becoming more aware of what they are putting in their bodies.
Even giving away the food for love isn’t making people sprint to the closest McDonald’s to try and score a free meal. It’s a sweet concept, but the more health-conscious Americans are not smart enough to fall for it.
McDonald’s is one of many prominent food chains that need to make some major modifications or just give up altogether. Its “would you like to supersize that?” option is one that did so much damage to the American public’s health that it had to be eliminated from the menu completely.
Although McDonald’s has been striving to make alterations to improve their food’s image, it is the image of a year old McDonald’s burger that still looks the exact same as when it was ordered that is really sticking in the American peoples’ minds.
McDonald’s is a restaurant that shows the staggering caloric count of each item right on the menu above. One look up at the screen would send any sane human being who is concerned for their health running toward the door, even if the food was offered to them for free.
They say the calorie count on the menu was a way to promote customers to make healthier choices, but in all honesty, all it makes anyone want to do is avoid the restaurant all together. There aren’t many good delicious choices that people can order and keep their meal’s calorie count low.
Granted, it’s not just McDonald’s that will lead customers into some health issues and weight gain. All fast food chains are guilty of not being the healthiest choices on the planet, even the beloved Cookout.
If we shrunk the McDonald’s Company, along with other similar fast food establishments, the American peoples’ waistline would most likely shrink as well. Putting all that fat, grease, and unknowns into a body is one step closer to heart disease.
This is why the whole concept of “paying with love” is laughable- just by eating McDonald’s or any other fast food, people are destroying the one thing that does the loving: the heart.
Luckily, fast food options are becoming less and less popular as healthier food establishments are becoming more easily accessible and personally I’m ‘McLovin’ it.
