It was a hell of a comeback this past Sunday as the Kansas City Royals took on the New York Mets during game five of the World Series. Royals won the series 4-1. It was the Royal’s first World Series win in 30 years.

During their game on Sunday in which they won 7-2, The Royals came back from being down 2-0 in the top of the ninth inning. They managed to come back with two runs and finished the game off in the twelfth inning with five more runs. It’s not a surprise these royals managed to come back when they’ve been doing it all season.

According to USA Today, The Royals became the first team in World Series history to win three games when trailing in the eighth inning or later. During their postseason, The Royals came from behind eight times in their 11 postseason games according to MLB.com.

Whether it’s the bond these players have that keep them hustling to the very end or their work ethic, it’s something that has been built over the years.

“It’s unbelievable, said Salvador Perez, winner of the Series Most Valuable Player Award, to the New York Times. “We’ve got almost the same group when I played my first year in 2007 in Arizona, the Rookie League. It’s amazing to now win a World Series and see the same guys with you.”

The Royals not only worked hard to win the series but they also had faith within one another and their main objective of winning.

“We believed in each other,” said Eric Hosmer, Royals first baseman to USA Today. “That’s all that mattered. There was never a doubt in our mind we could do this.”

This win has only created an exuberant and full of life atmosphere in Kansas City.

This is the damndest thing I’ve ever seen,” said George Brett, Royals Hall of Famer, to USA Today. “People in Kansas City are going bonkers over this organization. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

As the city continues to celebrate and rejoice, the world watches on anticipating next season in hopes that their favorite team will stand where The Royals once stood.
