UNC Wilmington’s (UNCW) coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine clinic is officially open at the Burney Center for March 25 and 24. Appointments for both days were filled within minutes of the email announcement being sent out.

Only UNCW students, faculty and staff who fall under Groups 1-4 are eligible to receive the vaccine under the state’s guidelines. These groups include:

  • Group 1 – healthcare workers
  • Group 2 – adults 65 and older
  • Group 3 – frontline essential workers, including students who are working or doing research in person on campus
  • Group 4 – anyone 16-64 years old with high-risk medical conditions or in congregate living settings

Students living in dorms are expected to become eligible under the second phase of Group 4 on April 7.

For this week’s appointments, UNCW received 300 doses of the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine can only be administered to those at least 18 years of age or older.

Students, faculty and staff registering will need to provide their name, email address, employee or student ID number and mobile phone number. For their appointment, they will need their UNCW ID card. After receiving the vaccine, you will need to remain in the Burney Center for 15 minutes.

As more appointments become available, UNCW will send out similar emails with the SignUp Genius registration links.
