UNCW’s season ends after loss to Tribe

HARRISONBURG, Virginia – No. 10 UNC Wilmington (7-10, 1-6 Colonial Athletic Association) came up short, 73-60 against No. 7 William & Mary (7-10, 4-6 CAA) Saturday night in the first round of the CAA tournament. 

Senior Ty Gadsden led the Seahawks in scoring with 15 points. Joe Pridgen added 12 while Mike Okauru followed with 10. 

UNCW came out sluggish, shooting 24.3% in the first half. The Hawks finished Saturday’s contest shooting a season-low 31.9% from the field. 

“We didn’t come out with the right energy and toughness. I didn’t think our fight was quite there,” said UNCW Head Coach Takayo Siddle. 

UNCW trailed by as many as 20 points in Saturday’s game, including a 16-point deficit in the first half.
