WILMINGTON, North Carolina – No. 20 UNCW (3-0-1) remained unbeaten on the young season with a 2-0 victory over Campbell (2-1-1) Wednesday night at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

Midfielder Colton Pleasants gave UNCW a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute after a successful free kick gave the sophomore his second goal of the season.

Senior forward Jacob Evans extended the Seahawks’ lead with 16:39 remaining in regulation with another free kick.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game,” said Evans. “We played well as a team…players came off the bench and put a solid shift in.”

Seahawk goalkeeper Gabriel Perotta held Campbell to a season-low five shots on the evening. Perotta posted his third shutout of the season Wednesday after making three saves against the Camels.

UNCW will begin conference play Saturday, March 13, at 6 p.m. when they host Elon (1-1).

After four games, we got a time to recoup in the next 10 days, which I think we need,” said UNCW Head Coach Aidan Heaney. “I think it has been a really good slate for us getting ready for the CAA games which are going to be the games that matter the most.”
