WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Elon’s (7-8, 4-7 Colonial Athletic Association) Kris Wooten hit a game-winning three-point shot as time expired to lift the Phoenix over the Seahawks, 80-77, inside of Trask Coliseum on Saturday night.

Saturday’s regular season-finale was the first game-action for UNCW (7-9, 1-6 CAA) after the team was forced to cancel its last 10 games, dating back to the Jan. 31 matchup with Hofstra.

UNCW’s Shykeim Phillips played in his first game of the 2020-21 season on Saturday evening. The sophomore finished with 11 points and shot 50% from the field.

Joe Pridgen led the Seahawks in scoring with 21 points, followed by senior Ty Gadsden who finished with 20.

For the first time this season, fans were allowed to attend a game inside of Trask Coliseum. Saturday’s matchup saw 800 fans in attendance and gave a sense of normalcy for both players and coaches.

The 10th seeded Seahawks will take on the 7th seeded William & Mary Tribe Mar. 6 in the first-round of the CAA Tournament. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. inside of Atlantic Union Bank Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
