Diamond Hawks collect CAA preseason honors

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW’s Landon Roupp was named Colonial Athletic Association’s Preseason Player of the Year ahead of the 2021 campaign. The red-shirt junior is coming off a 3-1 record in 2020 while holding a 2.00 ERA.

The Seahawks also received seven of the eight first-place votes from the league’s coaches to win the South Division of the Colonial Athletic Association this upcoming season. Elon, James Madison, William & Mary and the College of Charleston are the other competitors in the South Division.

UNCW’s Cole Weiss, Noah Bridges, Adam Smith and Luke Gesell also received preseason honors from the CAA.

The Hawks will host its first matchup of the season on Feb. 19 when VCU comes into town for a four games series. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
