WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Beginning with a 15 game homestand at Brooks Field, UNCW released its schedule for the upcoming 2021 baseball season.

The Seahawks’ second season under head coach Randy Hood will begin on Feb. 19 when they host visiting Virginia Commonwealth University for a four-game series.

The Hawks will close out their lengthy home stretch on Mar. 17 with a single game against bitter rival ECU. The contest between the Pirates and Seahawks will be the first since last year’s thriller when UNCW’s Matt Suggs hit a walk off homerun days before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 virus.

UNCW will be joined by the College of Charleston, Elon, James Madison and William & Mary in the south division of the Colonial Athletic Association. The teams will play just 12 games each due to the different format in order to follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines.

The Seahawks are coming off a short 11-5 season and will look to use the early homefield slate to their advantage before heading on the road to take on teams such as Coastal Carolina (Apr. 6), N.C. State (May 11) and UNC Chapel Hill (May 18).
