In an email sent out by the university on Oct. 23, UNC Wilmington (UNCW) announced they are collaborating with the New Hanover County Health Department to host a free coronavirus (COVID-19) testing site.

Testing started Oct. 27 and will run through Nov. 24 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m, Tuesday through Friday. The drive-thru or walk-up location is set up in the parking lot at the corner of Hurst Drive and Hamilton Drive which is across from the Greene Track & Field Complex. Tests are open to the general public and UNCW students and will be of no cost.

However, students are still encouraged to continue using the Student Health Center to receive their free test. The test will also be self-administered and you do not have to show systems or have known possible exposure to get one. Registration is required to receive a test.

“This provides an excellent way to provide free testing for faculty and staff and their families,” said Katrin Wesner-Harts, interim Associate Vice Chancellor for student affairs.
