Junior forward Jacob Evans netted the only goal for the Seahawks over the weekend, helping UNC Wilmington capture a 1-0 victory over no. 18 James Madison. Evans’ performance also helped the Seahawks improve to 8-4-2 on the season, with a 5-0-1 conference record, ranking them atop of the Colonial Athletic Association leaderboard.

Evans’ award marks the second week in a row where at least one UNCW Men’s Soccer player has been recognized by the CAA.

“Jacob scored a very important goal for us against James Madison and is a constant threat for our team with his ability on the ball and his movement,” coach Aidan Heaney told UNCW athletic communications. “We are looking for a strong end to the season from him as we push to win the CAA regular season title.”

Evans, originally from Chester, Cheshire, England, transferred from the University of St. Thomas and has made his presence felt. With two goals and four assists in the season, Evans and the Seahawks look to continue their immense hot streak.

UNCW will host Drexel on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. and will look to extend their narrow lead over JMU for first place in the CAA.
