The Seahawk’s Summer Book Club

Everyone has a hobby that they only enjoy during the summer months, and if you are anything like me, your hobby may be reading. Over the summer, I will read a new book from many different genres and review them when I have completed them. Feel free to read along, comment, and share your views on our summer book club picks.

Beginning Monday, June 11, The Seahawk’s summer book pick is “Nice Try, Jane Sinner,” by  Lianne Oelke. This Young Adult fiction work centers on a 17-year-old girl who has recently been kicked out of high school and becomes engulfed in the judgment of her peers. Her parents push her to attend a community college program and she pushes back by moving out. Lacking money and having little housing options, Jane turns to a “student-run reality show that is basically Big Brother.” As the show progresses, Jane becomes more focused on winning and dealing with the pressure she feels from her peers and her parents.
