Video Game Review: explore and interact with “Final Fantasy 2”
“Final Fantasy X” for the PlayStation 2 is an excellent buy. I haven’t enjoyed a game this much since I first played “Perfect Dark.” FFX is awesome; Squaresoft has created another great game.
The main character is Tidus, a star blitzball player who is somehow sent into the future when the entity “Sin” attacks his homeland. From there Tidus joins up with various people in an attempt to rid the world of “Sin.”
Anyone would love this game. The graphics are stellar; the soundtrack is great and the story line is quite . . . weird, but it’s easy to get pulled into the world of FFX. The characters begin to feel like family as the game progresses, and players will find themselves scrambling to heal one character or improve the stats of another.
The graphics are absolutely beautiful; cut-scenes flow smoothly from in-game action. The scenery and characters are highly detailed and done so well that players will become anxious to see another great cut-scene. However, Squaresoft could have used a little less emphasis on the cinematics.
One piece of advice for this game . . . explore and interact. This is old news to players of previous Final Fantasy epics, but for those who haven’t played one or haven’t played one in a while . . . look around. This is also especially helpful when trying out new attacks and trying to gain points for the “band of merry men” that will begin to tag along on the various missions.
There’s no better role-playing game on any platform and it’s safe to say it’s one of the best games out there–period. Squaresoft has really come into its own when it comes to telling a story. Anyone with a PlayStation2-even those who aren’t into role-playing–should promptly rent Final Fantasy X. A little epic journey over time and space never hurt anyone.
