Salette Andrews enters the campaign for one of three spots open on the Wilmington City Council. Her campaign focuses on three pillars: housing affordability, economic growth and keeping corporate polluters accountable for their waste cleanup.
On April 18, 2023, Marlowe Foster announced that he will be campaigning for the Wilmington City Council and preparing for the municipal election that will be held in November of this year. The three main tenets of his campaign are job creation, juvenile crime and the opioid epidemic, and housing affordability.

When someone doesn’t encounter or see hardship and strife on a daily basis, it’s easy to live in a bubble and not notice anything outside of it. People are hungry, hopeless, scared, homeless and desperate for help right next door.

Leslie Smith, owner of the contracting business LS Smith, Inc., moved to Wilmington twenty years ago with a desire to try something new. He worked mainly on apartment complexes—a venture that lost creative satisfaction for Smith as time went on. In 2010, Smith first explored his interests in art and industrial architecture in a property at Rosemont Ave. nicknamed “MoCo,” short for “Modern Cottage.” This was his first experience building from shipping containers.
Students are not expected to know the story behind every building owned by UNCW, but they should know the origins of the home where their Chancellor resides. The Chancellor’s home, also known as the Kenan House, has a history that is especially vital to learn during Black History Month. For the students and faculty who don’t know it, it’s time to go to school.

Natalie Wandersee, a 21-year-old senior, is studying abroad in Budapest, Hungary until Dec. 23, and focusing on Communication Studies at a Business University called Corvinus. She is taking fun classes including cross-cultural communications and marketing, where Wandersee states she is learning the most in.
