Both the UNC Wilmington men’s and women’s soccer teams have emerged as contenders in the CAA this season. Each squad continued to leave their mark on the league with positive performances in the past week.

The women’s team closed out their regular season with a 3-1 victory over Delaware at home on Sunday, giving them a final mark of 9-9, including a 4-4 in the CAA for the regular season.

The Seahawks secured the No. 5 seed in the upcoming six-team conference tournament. The team will open play against No. 4 seed Hofstra on Nov. 4.

The men’s team also improved their standings in the CAA with their 2-1 victory at Delaware on Saturday. The win vaulted the Seahawks into a tie for fourth place with William & Mary, each with nine points.

The Seahawks also made some noise on a national level with their 1-0 win over then-No. 11 nationally-ranked UNC last Tuesday. Sophomore Jordan Cordero’s first career goal proved to be the difference-maker in a statement win for the team.

The team will close out their regular season with a two-game homestand against William & Mary on Nov. 2 and Northeastern on Nov. 6.
